3 Ways to Use Pumpkin in Your Coffee

If there's one thing both fall-lovers and summer-longers can likely get behind — it's seasonal autumn foods. From squash, to sweet potatoes, to (dare we say) Halloween candy, fall foods are the perfect middleground between the light fruits and veggies of summer and the comforting soups and bakes of winter. One fall food that always infiltrates anything and everything starting September 1st? You know it, we know it. Your Starbucks barista definitely knows it. All together now, "PUMPKIN." As (arguably) the official food of fall, pumpkin always finds a home for itself amongst restaurants' seasonal menus, bakeries' pastry rotations, and, of course, the menu of most coffee shops. If you're looking for even more ways to incorporate this fall staple into your coffee prep at home, here are three ways to use pumpkin in your morning cup. 1.Homemade Pumpkin Coffee Creamer Less ingredients, more flavor is the name of the game here. Simply combine your choice dairy base (heavy cream, milk, or even a dairy-free option like soy milk or almond milk) with pumpkin puree, maple syrup, and some cinnamon. Double or triple the recipe if you love it, and store it in your fridge for easy use throughout the coming fall weeks. 2. DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte Embrace your basic, go on, you can do it. Make this even once, realize how doable it actually is, and then consider yourself a barista. 3. Pumpkin Spice Drip Coffee You just need pumpkin spice mix to make this. You simply add the spice to your ground coffee beans and brew your morning cup like you normally would, and voila! Pumpkin spice-flavored coffee. Fall is upon us, friends, and whether we choose to embrace sweater weather or shudder in a corning, willing summer to come back, it's happening with or without our acceptance. But, whether or not you're down for the changing of seasons, there's no denying that pumpkin makes the transition a lot easier.
